The BergerXP Indiblogger Meet in Kolkata, on September 12, 2015 at the Oberoi Grand Hotel.
When you put together Bloggers from across the nation on one national internet network, a virtual web of exchanging information and sharing and connecting with like minded people is created. But when you put about a hundred of those Bloggers in one single room in real time, All Hell Breaks Loose! And that is what happened at the BergerXP Indiblogger Meet, Kolkata!
Connecting over the internet with people who you have similar interests with, is one thing. But meeting such amazing people in reality, who radiate so much energy, enthusiasm and are brimming with ideas is almost infectious. I, personally am a very lucky person to have got the chance of attending a Bloggers meet within three months of starting to blog. There were those who have waited since 2011 for Indiblogger to show up to our city!
But when they did show up, with Berger as their pillar of support, the result was an unforgettable experience for every attending blogger.
The Indiblogger team had me impressed from the word go! Everything was systematic and well planned and that is a clear sign of a headstrong core team.
Right from the mail invites to the smooth as a cakewalk registration at the venue, everything was well planned and better executed.
The chosen venue for the Kolkata meet could not have been better! The Oberoi Grand Hotel is an asset to the city in terms of it rich past, heritage and iconic status, and it was a fitting venue to gather creative minds! The stage was set, the ambiance was just right, and Berger and the Indiblogger team made sure that each and every one of was treated like a star, literally! We were photographed, as we stood against the BergerXP Indiblogger backdrop, holding our badges high up, and feeling proud! I felt like a celebrity on a red carpet event already!
A little background : Professionally, I am into event management. I have also hosted plenty of events as emcee in a five year long career, about a dozen of which were at the Oberoi Grand Ballroom. And because it has been half a decade of me controlling the stage, I barely ever get very nervous now. But that day, as a part of the audience, I was a wreck! Because this was change. This was not something that I had done ever before. This was different. I had no idea what to expect, who to meet, how to conduct myself and most importantly how to blend in! This was my first time after all. Now this might sound silly but my hands were shaking while I was entering my email id into the registration laptop! I really don’t know why I was so nervous. Maybe it was because I was inching closer to materializing the intention of becoming someone who can finally pursue her dream of being known as a writer as well.
And thank God I met my classmate from school, Purba Chakraborty there. The moment I saw her, I felt less nervous. She is an author, an insightful blogger, an inspiring woman and a gem of a person! Along with her, I met and spoke with some very congenial women, Maniparna from Scattered thoughts and Somorita from Styledoscope and we got talking and getting to know ourselves over tea.
And then came in Anoop Johnson, emcee, moderator, team builder and Karthik DR’s perpetual leg puller. From the beginning he made us sing, dance, applaud and turned up the energy levels ten times over! Suddenly the room turned into a party from a corporate-ish set up! My nervousness went flying out of the window.
After a round of introductions, twitter photo contests, some more leg pulling and laughter, we were given an insight into the world of BergerXP and their achievements in optimizing the use of applied technology for making the tedious process of painting a home much more convenient, fast, easy and most importantly, safe.
I was highly impressed with their new and revolutionary gadgets, like the Sanding Machine which cleans as it works and keeps the space dust free, and the Auto Roller which made painting a wall look like child’s play. These gadgets looked like they were meant to be used by normal people like and you me without any prior skills! They were new age, world class and very easy to handle, all at the same time.
Going with the theme of BergerXP, we were segregated in teams for some fun activities, like the sanding competition, and painting for a social cause. Here I want to shout out to our team, including Purba, Deb, Mashkoor, Sneha, Shreya and myself. We bonded and played as a team and even though we did not win in any of the competitions (despite calling ourselves Team Flash!) we gained so much for experience! It was pure fun.
Dinner was a sumptuous affair of good food and great conversations.
Practically speaking, any creative initiative can never flourish without proper support, be it financial, technical or moral, and BergerXP quite evidently extended all of their support to the Indiblogger team, and thus, Us.
Through this XPerience I gained confidence, made friends and got a firsthand taste of how potential the world of Blogging is.
I am hoping for Indiblogger to come to Kolkata more often and let’s hope you all don’t take another four years this time!
