“Matte is back and is here to stay! It’s cool, it’s colourful and it’s chic. And what better way to brighten up your day than adding a pop of color to your lips. Elle 18 presents the new range of Colour Pops Matte lipsticks in vibrant matte shades to combine our love for colours and long lasting make up in a single bold stroke.”
I really like the pigmentation and color pay off these lipsticks have. My favorite is the orange shade named Coral Dose which is really bright and beautiful and great for a bright summer look. Pink Kiss swatched very nicely on my hand, but due to the blue undertone of my lips, the shade was not as bright as it came across from the swatch. Choco Bite is a nearly dark brown shade with a very, very slight red note which gives it a proper chocolate brown color.
Coming to the ‘Matte’ part, these lipsticks are not properly matte and do not give that powdery matte finish. They have a creamy finish instead but do not have a shiny or glossy texture after settling on the lips for a few minutes for that matter. There are both pros and cons of these which are mentioned below. The one thing that I am really impressed with is the pricing. They are priced at INR 100 only and I feel that is very very affordable. I do have an issue with the packaging. The light plastic material does not support the wight of the lipstick well and it tends to twist backwards during application so you will have to have a good grip on the stem for easy application. They last for a couple of hours but transfer a lot so if you eat or drink something, you will have to re apply once again. The lipsticks don’t dry the lips at all and have a good moisturizing content which is probably the reason why they are not entirely matte.
For the price that they come for, I think they are really good lipsticks so the packaging issue can be overlooked.
- Price – Very affordable, and great for those on a tight budget
- Color Pay off is good
- Hydrating formula, doesn’t dry lips
- Available in twenty different shades.
- Not Completely Matte, have a creamy finish
- Packaging feels cheap and products tends to twist backwards during application
- Not very long lasting. Tendency to transfer during consumption for food and beverages.
My Lips have a blue undertone. All swatches on the Lips have been done without applying any primer or base. Color pay off may vary depending upon lip undertone and base applied.
